Protect Yourself Against Chickenpox

Chickenpox can be more severe in adults than in children, and can be a particular risk if you're not immune — including for travellers heading somewhere with limited healthcare access. We offer the chickenpox vaccine privately for anyone who hasn't previously had the infection, given as a 2-dose course for lasting protection.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?

• •Adults and teenagers who have never had chickenpox
• •Travellers to remote or high-risk destinations with limited healthcare access
• •Parents or carers wanting to avoid catching chickenpox from their children
• •Anyone planning a pregnancy who has not previously had chickenpox

How It Works

Our Chickenpox vaccination service includes:

• 1.Pre-travel health assessment
• 2.Discussion of travel plans and health risks
• 3.First dose of chickenpox vaccine administered
• 4.Second dose given at least 4 weeks later to complete the course

The vaccine is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include mild fever, tiredness, digestive upset, and occasionally a mild chickenpox-like rash at the injection site. It should not be given during pregnancy or if you're trying to conceive — speak to our pharmacist for advice on timing.
