Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne virus found across parts of Africa, Asia, the Americas and the Caribbean, causing sudden fever and often severe, sometimes long-lasting joint pain. We offer the chikungunya vaccine as part of a full pre-travel risk assessment for travellers heading to affected areas.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?

• •Travellers to parts of Africa, South/Southeast Asia, or the Americas and Caribbean
• •Those on extended stays or travelling off the typical tourist route
• •Travel during higher-risk periods such as local rainy seasons

How It Works

Our Chikungunya vaccination service includes:

• 1.Pre-travel health assessment
• 2.Discussion of destination, itinerary and health risks
• 3.Single-dose chikungunya vaccination administered
• 4.Advice on mosquito bite avoidance

A single dose is currently recommended, with no booster required at this time. Possible mild side effects include a rash, raised temperature, nausea or muscle aches. The vaccine isn't suitable for children under 12, pregnant women in their first trimester, or anyone who has had a serious allergic reaction to a previous dose.
